Assessment Preparation

Prepare your upcoming airline Simulator Assessment.

Airline Training Australia offers pilots the unique ability to prepare for an upcoming simulator assessment which is part of the recruitment process for most major airlines. Utilising one of our state-of-the-art Flight Simulators, our ‘SimPrep’ packages are designed to cater for the different needs of pilots preparing for this important career move. Preparing for your assessment in our simulator is both cost-effective and highly advantageous, to give you the most competitive ‘edge’ with your airline application.

Our simulators are currently used by some Australian airlines to run the actual assessment. They are based on a modern twin turbo-jet transport aircraft and are particularly advantageous for candidates preparing for assessments that are conducted in a Boeing 737NG Simulator. See Simulators for more information.

The ‘SimPrep’ courses are run by experienced instructors who are either current or retired airline pilots. Each session covers:

  • Modern Flight Deck Familiarisation
  • Large jet characteristics and basic handling techniques
  • Glass cockpit instrument scan practice
  • Becoming familiar with the airline-specific assessment profile

Please see information about our Group and Individual SimPrep courses below.

Take advantage of sharing the SimPrep course in groups of two or three. After a comprehensive briefing, each participant will receive one hour as the Pilot Flying and one hour as the Pilot Monitoring in the simulator.

This is the most recommended way to prepare for your simulator assessment as you will not only fly the simulator, but also act as the Support Pilot and observe your partner(s) complete each sequence. This enables you to see each profile/sequence at least twice which is the most effective way to learn.

Our courses are run by experienced airline pilots who keep up to date with the latest airline-specific simulator assessment profiles.

Group Course inclusions:

  • 45 minute briefing including a multi-media presentation
  • 2-3 hours* simulator time including at least 60 minutes as the Pilot Flying and 60 minutes as the Pilot Monitoring
  • 15 minute debrief
  • ‘Guide to the Simulator Assessment’ book

*Simulator sessions for groups with two participants will be 2 hours in duration and groups with three participants will be 3 hours in duration.

Group sessions include 2-3 participants who are preparing for an assessment with the same airline. We typically schedule group sessions during the week leading up to most major airline recruitment rounds.

Our Individual Courses are the most flexible as they can be booked on demand and each session is tailored specifically to the individual’s experience level. Your instructor will guide you through the basics of handling a large jet before focusing on the airline-specific profile that you will expect on the day.

Our courses are run by experienced airline pilots who  keep up to date with the latest airline-specific simulator assessment profiles.

Individual Course inclusions:

  • 45 minute briefing including a multi-media presentation
  • 90 minutes simulator time
  • 15 minute debrief

If you are unable to enrol in one of our SimPrep courses we would recommend hiring the simulator with one of our instructors to become familiar with flying a jet aircraft and the specific assessment profile.
