AeroStar provides Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 Type Rating options.

AeroStar Training Services, based at Kissimmee Airport in Orlando, USA, was founded by airline professionals in 2008. An FAA Certified 142 Training Centre, they offer a wide range of certification and endorsement programs in airline pilot training including aircraft type ratings on the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 Series.

Type Ratings

Complete your type rating in sunny Florida, USA for a fraction of the cost of completing one in Australia, including travel costs!

Through AeroStar Training Services, we offer Type Ratings for both the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 Series which are recognized by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia.  AeroStar conducts training for airlines around the world (including some operators in Australia) using state-of-the-art “zero flight time” full flight simulators (FFS) in Orlando and Miami, Florida, USA.

Type Ratings are transferred to your Australian CASA Part 61 licence without any further training or testing.

This is also an option for pilots wishing to complete their ATPL Flight Test. After completing your Type Rating on either the Airbus A320 or Boeing 737NG, you will be eligible to sit your ATPL Flight Test in a simulator in Australia. Contact Us for more information.

This is a full Type Rating designed for pilots with low hours who have a CPL and IR.

Duration:  Approximately 3 weeks onsite including:

  • 9 days of facilitated classroom training/labs covering all aircraft systems and operating procedures.
  • 1 x FTD Level 5 FTD procedures integration session (5 hrs per crew)
  • 6 x Level D Full Flight Simulator sessions (20 hrs per crew)
  • 1 oral & practical exam by an in-house evaluator (5 hrs per crew)

Pre-requisites:  

  • CASA CPL(A)
  • CASA IR

This is a Type Rating is designed for pilots with at least 500 hours Total Time and involves online Computer Based Training (CBT) instead of face-to-face onsite ground training.

Duration: Approximately 10 days onsite including:

  • 40 hrs of cloud-based aircraft systems instruction via distance learning software
  • 3 days of ground school – includes a blend of lecture and virtual flight
  • 1 x Level 5 FTD procedures integration session (5 hrs per crew)
  • 5 x Level D Full Flight Simulator sessions including LOFT (20 hrs per crew)
  • 1 oral & practical exam by an in-house evaluator (5 hrs per crew)

Pre-requisites:  

  • CASA CPL(A)
  • CASA IR

Total Time > 500 hours

Airbus A320:

  • Standard – USD $12,400
  • Fast Track – USD $10,500

Boeing 737NG:

  • Standard – USD $13,000
  • Fast Track – USD $11,000

There are plenty of options for flights and accommodation. Orlando is a major holiday travel destination with approx.. 100 million visitors a year! Flights from Australia are via Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas.

Return airfares are generally less than AUD$2,000 except may jump up a bit in peak season (Jul-Aug) due to summer holidays in the US.

There is an abundance of hotel or AirBNB accommodation near Kissimmee, and AeroStar have a number of reasonably priced options they can recommend. As a suggestion check out Expedia for the dates of travel you are considering and this will give you an idea.
